Research Facilities

IIT Gandhinagar follows an open lab concept where all the research facilities are accessible to all the users within institute. Some of the research facilities present available to the department are listed below.

The instruments available in the Central Instrumentation Facility can be seen here.

Cell Culture Facility

  • 2 BSL1 (Biosafety level 1) cell culture facilities for mammalian cell culture

  • 2 BSL2 facilities dedicated for lentiviral based transfection and stem cells and tissue engineering laboratories.

  • State-of-the-art incubators with CO2 supply, cell cabinets, liquid nitrogen storage and epifluorescence microscope in the cell culture facilities.

  • A mini-bank of different cells from body tissues like neuronal stem cells, cells from epithelia, kidney, liver, muscles, fibroblasts and human mesenchymal stem cells.

Proteomics and Peptide Synthesis Facility

The facility is home to Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometer (MALDI TOF/TOF MS), peptide synthesis related equipment such as Analytical cum Preparative HPLC, Fume hoods, Microwave based peptide synthesizer, Lyophilizer, Manual SPPS set-up and inverted fluorescence microscope.

Molecular and Cellular Biology Facilities

The facility is equipped with ultracentrifuge, gradient thermocycler, gel documentation system, Real-Time thermocycler, nano-spectrophotometer, UV-vis spectrophotometer,  multimode microplate reader and Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography (FPLC) system with various columns.

Crystallography Facility

The crystallography facility includes crystallization incubator, Stereo-microscope and Single crystal X-ray Diffractometer.
